Strawberries & Farmer's Market

Sunday was a day of 'fun in the sun'! Charles mom found this really cool farm, Jollisant Farms, on the outskirts of Navasota where you can pick your own fruits and veggies! We obviously picked strawberries! These pictures kill me of Allison, she is so incredibly inquisitive. I'm surprised my heart hasn't literally exploded from the cuteness overload!

A little taste-testing to make sure the strawberries were ok. It mostly just ended with her having red stained hands and clothes.

These are two of my most favorite pictures of ALL TIME. They both show her personality to a T, the inquisitive adventurous type AND the I'll tell you what's what type. She is my little ball of fire!

After we picked strawberries we headed to Brenham where Charles' mom found an indoor Farmer's Market, Home Sweet Farm! It was AWESOME! Fresh Organic EVERYTHING, fruits, veggies, meats, milk, cheese, yogurt, fresh cut flowers, AND local artisan jams, jellies, candles, oils, honey, and CARAMEL! Now, I was pretty much sold once we walked in but one I found the BOURBON caramel, I was in heaven! We barely made it home before I busted open the jar...yummy!

So much fun was had by all! We hope you all had a Sunday-Funday too!

Beach Trip 2014

Other than the wonderful company and adorable babies, I would say our trip to the beach was a solid bust...it rained pretty much whole time and was cool & windy. Not ideal conditions for fun in the sun. We did get to swim for about 20 minutes and we visited the Texas State Aquarium which was pretty cool, Allison seemed to really enjoy all of the fish. We really need to work on animal sounds though, every fish makes the "ruff, ruff" sound like her puppy! It's totally cute though!

We are so lucky we got to spend 2 whole days with Mr. Jameson and his sweet parents Ashley and Zach!
This picture is so indicative of their relationship...Allison immediately threw down her pot and spoon just so she could race over and take Jameson's away from him. She's kind of mean.
Next time we will definitely plan better in regards to travel time and length of stay so that we can spend less time being tired and more time hanging out!

Aren't they just the cutest?!

The dolphin exhibit was by far our favorite! A ceiling to floor glass wall that you could see everything makes for a great show!

I LOVE this picture! I don't remember what she was pointing at but she looks like she's telling daddy something really important!

Since we never were able to make it to the actual beach we stopped at this little side strip. It was definitely not a traditional beach but Charles still enjoyed picking up some shells. :p
Even though it didn't go according to plan, we still had a great time just getting away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life!

DIY: Centerpiece Planter

Up until two days ago our table STILL had winter/Christmas decor on it! I knew exactly what I wanted in my mind but the problem was, I couldn't find it ANYwhere...hence, this DIY post! Charles and I love succulents mainly because we are too lazy to take care of 'real' plants but they also are pretty kick ass looking! When I was trying to figure out how exactly to build one (seems simple right, 5 pieces of wood just slap them together?) Charles said he would buy me a miter saw if I promised to miter the ends! So of course I obliged...and I'm glad I did! It looks so much better in my opinion than just slapping the boards together. Don't fret if you don't have a miter saw you can definitely piece the boards together with two sides, two ends and a bottom! It will still look SMASHING!

For this project you will need:

Wood Stain-- I LOVE these cloths...easy to use and NO mess! Easy Peasy!
Pen
Straight Edge
Plastic Trash Bag
Wood Glue
Measuring Tape
Sander or Sand Paper
Nail Gun
Miter Saw
2- 1x6 cut at 30 inches in length*
1-1x4 cut at 28 inches in length *
2-1x6 cut at 5 inches in length*

* These measurements are based on our 6 foot table. You can definitely adjust them as need be. *

Once you have your materials and pieces cut you will glue to the sort sides to the long sides to make your box. I like Elmer's Wood Glue because it's easy to get off but it's strong on wood! What momma doesn't like easy clean up?

The next step is to attach your bottom (1x4- 28inches). I am still a little new with using my saw so I had to go back and trim and sand until I could make it fit! Also, don't worry if there are cracks or the boards do meet up just right, you're going to put plastic in the bottom! You can glue or you can just nail that puppy right in...I chose the latter because I'm impatient!

Next comes the really fun part, STAINING! If you're using the cloths, put on the gloves that are included and get to wiping. Make sure you go with the grain of the wood though!

Once you let it dry it's time to put in the plastic liner...I just folded a regular sized trash bag up and put it in the bottom. Now you're done...almost. Put in the dirt and what ever plants you want and you have your very own CUSTOM centerpiece!

Our cat, Charlotte, was so interested and nosey, it got me thinking for my next project. A catnip garden...She would go nuts over that!

Just Beachey!

Three Days. Only three more days until we head to the beach! I'm so excited! I haven't been to the beach in over 6 years...Charles hates the water and sand. This will also be Allison's first experience with a large body of water and my first time wearing a one piece. Let's just say swimsuit shopping did NOT go as nicely as I would have liked. I tried on a couple of two pieces and tankini's and some other one pieces but I ended up looking like a busted can of biscuits in EVERY. SINGLE. ONE. Except this fabulous gray one from Target.
God I love Target. I've been slowly putting together outfits and getting stuff together for our trip and have stumbled upon a few other things I fell in love with!

Happy Friday!

Senior

My baby sister has grown up on my right before my very eyes. She's so incredibly beautiful and I am so blessed to be her sister. We are about 5  years apart in age so we've never been the best of friends but the older we get the closer we become. I feel ancient, I'm not by the way, talking about her graduating from high school. Things aren't much different than they were 5 years ago when I graduated...or so it seems. Luckily one thing that has stayed the same is the need for senior pictures. I was fortunate enough to get to spend some time with her to take her pictures while Allison was spending some quality time with her daddy!

Class of 2014! I can't believe it...congratulations Erin!
