Thanksgiving

We had the most spectacular Thanksgiving! I'm so excited how our tablescape turned out. I know Thanksgiving doesn't have anything to do with presentation but it was fun making everything look pretty...at least for a little while. We spent the day with my family and I ate way too much. I told you I'd gobble till I wobbled. I'm going to let the pictures speak for themselves. photo 1 photo 3 (2)photo 4photo 2 (2)

Look at how cute this little turkey is! She LOVED Thanksgiving dinner! How did you celebrate your Thanksgiving?

Thankful

As we come upon Thanksgiving I thought I'd share what I'm thankful for!

I'm thankful for My lord Jesus. In a society that no longer has a place for Christ I find it a daily struggle to stay connected to my faith. I am thankful that I serve a forgiving God who loves me no matter how much the world fights me.

I'm thankful for my sweet, sweet husband. I couldn't have chosen a better partner in crime or a better father for Allison. He continues to amaze me with his incredible work ethic and his genuine love for our family.

I'm thankful for princess Allison. What a ride the past almost 8 months have been. I can't remember what I use to do with my time before she became apart of our world and for that I am thankful.

I'm thankful for my parents. Being a parent myself I am surprised at how incredibly difficult raising a child can be. I know I was and am not the perfect daughter but I'm thankful for my parents love and support.

I'm thankful for my brother and sister. No we haven't always gotten along or see eye to eye but we have grown to become good friends. I am thankful that our parents raised us to know that without family you have nothing.

I'm thankful for my job and awesome boss. My boss believed in me and took me in when no one else would.

I'm thankful for our home.

I'm thankful for our friends and extended family! Especially Kara and Christopher who continually bail me out when I need someone to watch Allison so I can have 5 minutes of quiet!! I'm also thankful for Ashley and Lydia who I have to confide in and get mommy advice from.

I'm thankful for being blessed with material objects that are not necessities.

Last and certainly not least I'm thankful for the health of myself and my family. I'm excited that we get to share this special holiday together to celebrate our thanks. What are you thankful for?

Crawling Baby!

We officially have a crawling baby on our hands! Yeay! It won't let me post a video in the actual blog post but you can see her do it here.

I can hardly believe this sweet little girl is already crawling. Where has the time gone? Many more memories and milestone to come. For now I will enjoy every minute with her.

Happy Friday

Teething Sucks!

For the past, 3 months or so our sweet little babe has been teething something fierce. Some teeth come through without so much as a tear while the others (more specifically the current top ones) are HORRIBLE! I absolutely HATE when my sweet girl is hurting and there's nothing I can really do for her. She's not the clingy type and boy has she been clingy. It's kind of frustrating because she wants me to hold her (Which I absolutely LOVE doing) but sometimes I just need Charles to be able to hold her...her response...no way Jose.  She's doing a little better with the clingyness but to make matters worse she contracted the nasty croup over the weekend and had to stay home from daycare for three days. The last time she was sick, which was about 6 weeks ago she wasn't nearly as fussy or irritable as she was this go around. It's kind of odd because she didn't have as high or consistent of a fever as she did a few weeks ago...again...teething sucks and I'm pretty sure that's the sole reason for her grumpiness.

picnic

Daddy & Allie during our "picnic"...the mosquitoes found Allison quite tasty so we had to retreat indoors.

I do have to say though, Miss. Allison is quite the trooper. Sure she's been whiny and sick but HOLY HELL...I stuck my finger in her mouth to apply orajel (why haven't they made an applicator for this so I don't get bit?) and felt not two but FOUR teeth on top! I knew she was getting her canine teeth but now her top middle teeth are about to  break through. It makes me want to cry just touching them...mostly because she bites but also because can't a girl catch a break? I'm trying to look on the bright side of things and say that she's getting them all in now and out of the way and we should be through this mess before long. I hope.

creepy

Isn't this the saddest thing you've ever seen? :( I  was putting dishes away when I looked up at the monitor and this is what I saw. It's really hard not to laugh at her face even though I'm pretty sure she wanted to rip her teeth out.

In addition to illness and new teeth our sweet girl also has some new skills! She can 'crawl'-- I use that term loosely because she's really slow at it and does it a little different than you'd think but if she wants something she will inchworm her way to it. It's usually my phone, the remote, or occasionally the cat's tail (she's not nearly as impressed with Allison's new skill as Charles and I are). She also pulled up to stand! Watch out world Allison is about to be on the move, and our lives will NEVER be the same. Right now it's kind of nice to be able to put her down and believe that she's not going to escape but I know before long Charles & I will always be searching the house for her. I guess it's time to find a new spot for Charlotte's litter-box and food bowl.

She's also doing very, very well with feeding herself...it makes me a little sad but very excited at the same time. I'm not quite sure where the past 7 1/2 months have gone but I can't imagine our lives without Allie-baba.

It's almost Turkey Day! We are getting so excited about having our family over to celebrate Allison's first Thanksgiving. Lots of cooking and decorating in the days ahead. I promise I'll try and blog more than once a week.

Planning for a Feast

I am a sucker for any holiday that I can make mounds of unnecessary dishes to make a pretty display. Thanksgiving is the PERFECT holiday for this. Tons of yummy food, delicious drinks and not to mention we will have the cutest little "pilgrim" sitting at the table with us this year! Charles and I decided that we wanted to host Thanksgiving and are so excited to have our family over to celebrate. Thanksgiving is all about sharing special time with your family and creating memories. I'm happy that Allison will have all the people who love her in one place as we all give thanks together for the bountiful blessings that God has poured over our family this past year. We are beyond blessed.

I have tons of ideas on how to decorate on Turkey-Day but you'll just have to wait to see! Can't wait to put it all together in a couple of weeks.

I will show you my inspiration for our tablescape. I found this via Pinterest (go figure) and LOVE the simplicity of it. We already have white dishes and a dark wooden table so I'll just have to pick up a few extra things to top it off.

Can't wait until our family  is sitting around the table! I plan to 'gobble till I wobble'! Happy planning!

Seven-Months-Old

Where, Oh Where has the time gone? Our sweet little babe is already seven months old. Part of me is really excited and another part of me is really sad. I miss my sweet teeny tiny bebe but am SOOO excited for what the future holds for her. She is so smart and getting so big!  I wish I would have started this 6 months ago but I guess late is better than never.

ab

Age: 7 Months

Stats: 14lbs (5th Percentile), 24 inches (8th Percentile)

Clothes: Wearing size 6 month mostly, but an occasional 3 month outfit makes its way into the mix. She has worn a couple of 9 month outfits from Carter’s too.

Favorite Foods:  Food in general. She does really like banana’s, mac-n-cheese, chicken & pumpkin flavored things.

Favorite Words: Does shrieking count as a word? If so, shrieking. She has said “mum” before but only when she is crying and upset. I’ll take it either way.

Favorite Toys: She is pretty obsessed with “Guess How Much I Love You” soft book that Charles bought her during their daddy-daughter date. She also likes anything that she can put in her mouth and chew on.

Sleep: 7PM to 6AM. She’s a rock-star.

Favorite Activities: Bath time is her absolute favorite, but she does love just hanging out on the floor with some toys. Oh and she’s a total TV babe. No matter where in the room she is, she will make it a  point to watch the TV if it’s on. (Mom-of-the-Year Award goes to…me!) Staring at the cat is also pretty entertaining…I swear Charlotte will be the reason Allison starts crawling.

ae

Least Favorite Activities: Anything that involves her laying/being still (diaper changes, cleaning nose, getting dressed, putting lotion on face) & being put in her car seat.

Favorite Things

6 month favs

1. Dino-Popper: This was a gift from one of my co-workers and Allison is finally old enough to be able to use it. Both her AND Charlotte love watching the balls bounce up and down. Allie hasn't quite grasped the concept of putting them back into the dino to make them bounce once they've bounced out. She'll get there...as long as Charlotte doesn't steal them all away first.

2. Gerber 2nd Foods: Even though we are working diligently on introducing Allison to new foods and textures, these are still our go to in-case we are in a hurry or there's nothing appropriate available for her to eat.

3. Self-Feeder: Allison LOVES eating out of this. It gives her independence as well as keeps her occupied for a few minutes so I can start supper or get something else done. Just pop a little bit of banana in it and wha-la! Yum-Fest! We also like this one over the mesh bag ones because it's really easy to clean. The mesh just seemed really hard to keep clean and sanitary.

4. Boogie Wipes: These are still one of our favorites. Allison seems to always be congested or have a runny nose and these are perfect for keeping her sensitive little nose from getting raw. They smell good too!

5. Foscam: Now that Allison is sleeping in her room, on the opposite side of the house I might add, the Foscam gives me peace of mind so that I can get some sleep. The best thing about it is that the camera feeds directly to our iPhone's and iPad and has a two-way mic so we can talk to her from our room. We've only done it a couple of times but it's a pretty cool feature. Oh Also, I swear she knows that it's a camera and we are watching her because she constantly  looks at it. Creepy much? (see picture below)

6. Guess How Much I Love You Soft Book: Daddy & Allison had a daddy-daughter day last week and wound up at Barnes and Nobel. This is the coolest little book. It has different textures, interactive hopping bunnies and makes lots of crinkle noises. Oh and it has a little heart teether, perfect for the teething babe.

78

Signature Moves: Putting everything in her mouth, push-ups, shrieking in delight & belly giggles.

Mom's Proudest Moment: When people in the store or around town come up to me and tell me that she's the most beautiful baby they've ever seen.

Dad's Proudest Moment: Spending an entire day with her out-and-about and NAILING it! :) This is also my proudest moment.

Other Milestones: She is beginning to understand what we are saying...especially "Do you want to something to eat?" or "No".  She is so close to crawling, even I can taste it. Hopefully she'll be crawling by Thanksgiving.

Hope you are all having a Happy Hump Day!

Our Weekend in Pictures

Another weekend has come and gone. Our little Allie-baba, as daddy is now calling her, will be 7 months old tomorrow. Where has the time gone? We had a relatively productive/relaxing weekend...it doesn't feel like it right now. I can barely keep my eyes open. Boo. Oh well...this kid is STILL rocking the push ups. She kills me...she's so adorable. Thankfully the rain passed before the weekend and we were able to get some much-needed vitamin D. Allie played with her princess ducky and daddy roasted coffee and me I just got to be with them. The only thing that could have made it even better was if Charles had been off.

3peat

Saturday night we had the pleasure of having our friends, Ashley, Zach, and this little stud-muffin Jameson come over for dinner and playdate. Isn't he the cutest? He's about 6 weeks older than Allison and boy what a difference those 6 weeks make. He is army crawling all over the place. I think I see a theme here...push ups and army crawling. A match made in heaven!
babies

Sunday, since Daddy was working, Allison and I decided to hit up the corn-maze again. This time it was actually cool outside and felt like fall. Allison had her first experience on the 'cow train' and needless to say she loved it. She giggled a few times. Lots of snuggles, hugs and kisses from the whole family. cowtrain cuties

Daddy got to come during his lunch/dinner break! It was awesome. We hate when daddy has to work but knows he does it so we can have the blessed life we do. Thanks daddy for all you do! :) We love you!  Of course Allison was passed out by the time he got there and slept the whole time. Sleepy baby. On a side note, Allison is a rock-star. After our dinner on Saturday, she went to bed at 7:30PM, slept till 5:30 to eat and was back asleep by 6:30AM and slept till 9:30. Sweet Baby Jesus sleeping in felt good. I don't think I've slept past 6:30AM-7AM since before she was born.  Suck it daylight savings.

daddy

Doesn't she look so cool in her sunglasses? I'm surprised she kept them on the whole time (like an hour). Again, rock star.

family

Couldn't resist adding another picture of this cute little man! Oh and how precious is that picture of Allison and her Grammy (my mom)? Too Cute for Words that's what!

fun oldies

We hope you all have a great week and adjust to the new time as quickly as we did! Happy Monday!
